Description:

This is a flex amp from Retro Robot, which is easy install and with a unique trim feature.

Unlike other amps which have no adjustment, this amp provides a variable volume pot labelled trim, which allows you to set the maximum volume to your own preference.

The capacitor configuration on this amp is designed to reduce audio hum from IPS and battery mods, and the amp is compatible with the power cleaner from Helder Game Tech.

To gain the most from this amp it is recommended that a 2W speaker is used, this will help to avoid distortion when the volume is set to maximum. The original speaker is compatible but may be a little distorted at the peak volume setting.

Requires some technical fitting to install including soldering, the flex cable comes pre-populated, making installation much easier, no need to solder the tiny capacitors or other parts.

Install guide:

1) Remove the old speaker and trim off the old solder connections so they are flat with a pair of side cutters.
2) Pre-tin the GBA motherboard (see photo showing locations).
3) Solder on the flex amp at the four locations (see photo).Liquid flux can be used to help neaten to joints and allow the solder to flow.
4) Solder on the speaker.
5) Using a small flat screwdriver, set the volume pot to the required peak level.
6) The Helder Power Cleaner can be paired with this amp and is recommended to remove the residual audio hiss.
