Description:

Xstation is an Optical Drive Emulator (ODE) laser replacement for the Sony PlayStation, the ultimate software loader for game developers and retro gaming enthusiasts, and a great way to give a new life to a PS1 that no longer has a working laser. Please check compatibility with your model before purchase, information on compatibility is below, this is the PU-8 model, a PU-18 model is also available in our store.

NOTE: This product requires advanced DIY installation - only those who are at a professional level of soldering should attempt to install this product, there is a high chance of a non functional installation or damage to the product / components of the product, or the system it is being installed into if attempted by those without the soldering expertise. It is recommended that you find an installer if you are not experienced in soldering, units damaged from installation are not eliable for a return. Replacement flex ribbon cables are availabe in store should there be an accident when trying to install the flex.

The Xstation ODE allows you to test and run your own software directly from a microSD card, making it a versatile tool for those interested in creating or experiencing community-made content, open-source projects and more.

Game software including license free homebrew and open source titles can be conveniently loaded on real hardware using a Micro SD memory card card slot.

The device offers seamless compatibility with software titles: Perfect for loading and testing homebrew applications, prototypes, and open-source projects on original PlayStation hardware.

An enhanced testing and development workflow can be achieved with the use of microSD, SDXC, and SDHC cards, software titles can be quickly loaded on the PS1 system without the need for physical discs, simply drop and drag software titles from a computer onto a memory card, then insert it into the Xstation.

The User-Friendly OS software makes navigating and launching easy and efficient, it supports consoles and software from any region with auto 50/60hz switching.

Preservation of classic hardware is achieved by not requiring the laser lens, helping extend the life of your PlayStation console.

Compatibility:

The xStation can be installed in original PlayStation consoles of the SCPH-100x, SCPH-5xxx and some SCPH-700x series.

This is the version with PU-8 board. It is suitable for most models of SCPH-1001, SCPH-1002, SCPH-3000 and SCPH-3500 series and ALL models with number SCPH-5000.

Why only most of them? Some of the PlayStation models use an early version of the PU-8, which unfortunately is not compatible.

You can only tell if you open them up and look at the number on the board: X-XXX-XXX-11 would be an early, incompatible version.

If there is another number instead of 11 (21, 22, 23 or 41) it is compatible.

(The X's are also numbers, they are just not relevant).
