Why is my DualShock 4 drifting?

DualShock 4 drift typically traces to wear in the joystick potentiometer or contamination under the rubber stick boot. Cleaning with isopropyl alcohol via a syringe sometimes helps temporarily; the durable fix is replacement of the joystick module. Most replacement sticks are soldered in, plan for an evening if it's your first soldering job on a controller.

Why does my PS4 sound like a jet engine?

Dust accumulation in the fan and on the heatsink, plus aged thermal paste. The PS4 fan ramps up under load, and once the heatsink is clogged the fan never gets ahead of the heat. A full clean, disassembly, blow-out, fan removal, fresh thermal paste, typically reduces noise dramatically. Compressed air alone helps but doesn't address the heatsink fins.

Are PS4 controllers compatible with PS5?

Mostly: a DualShock 4 works with PS4 games on PS5 (backwards-compatible PS4 titles), but the PS5 requires a DualSense controller for PS5-native games. So a DualShock 4 is fine for legacy library access but isn't a primary PS5 pad. The DualSense itself isn't fully compatible with the PS4.

Is upgrading to an SSD worth it for PS4?

Modder community consensus: yes for load-times, modest for game performance. The PS4 SATA bus limits raw transfer speeds, so you don't get full SSD speed, but boot times, menu navigation and game load times typically improve noticeably.
